Sing happy.

alita

Alita is an author and artist whose work at the intersection of art, storytelling and healing has earned support from Yale, the U.S. Department of Education, and the National Endowment for the Arts. A graduate of Spelman College (B.S.) and Yale University School of Medicine (M.D.), Alita built a long-standing career in medical communications, guiding teams and clients to share life-altering scientific breakthroughs with healthcare professionals and patients worldwide.

Alita’s passion for children’s literature blossomed while working in an arts therapy program with youth in her hometown of Atlanta. This inspired her to further hone her craft by completing certificates in Children’s Book Writing and Illustration from the University of California, San Diego. Alita creates stories that spark wonder and foster skills that support children’s well being over the course of their lives.

Alita believes that art is a vehicle for joy, connection, and transformation; and we each have a song to sing that is uniquely and beautifully our own.

somoro

Derived from the Swahili word for sparrow, somoro ( ʃo-mo-ro) is a studio for creating, connecting and celebrating one another. At somoro you will find original works by Alita and resources that encourage and celebrate you as you sing your own song.

The song of a sparrow holds the power to break forth dawn.
